Lady Sylvia Hermon, MP, is the official patron of the centre.
Welcome to the ART centre web page for Northern Ireland
The ART has a UK-wide Network of Centres involved in research into Alzheimer's Disease. The Northern Ireland (NI) Centre was established in March 2007, and brings together researchers based in NI.
The NI ART Centre includes researchers with interests in the underlying causes or novel treatments for Alzheimer's disease, as well as experienced research-active clinicians who specialise in Geriatric Medicine and run local Memory Clinics. The range of activities in the NI ART centre includes basic research in experimental models, translational and clinical research, to development of improved care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. The centre is jointly coordinated by Dr. Janet Johnston (Queen's University, Belfast) and Dr. Christian Hölscher (University of Ulster, Coleraine). In May 2009, Lady Sylvia Hermon, MP, kindly agreed to act as the patron of the ART centre.
